You will be sorry you did not wait if your demo is ineffective or you have difficulty selling your EP.Many other recorders can be expensive and unreliable when put to the test, offering low quality sound and no easy way to keep recordings organised. Go play some local gigs and take what you make and invest it the best recording equipment you can get! You won't be sorry you did. Even when you think you have it perfect, it will still take a number of recording sessions to get it right on the recording and getting it right with a poor quality recording will not do you justice. You're better off right now practicing and getting your sound and arrangements perfect and tightening up the rhythms and perfecting any solos, riffs, etc. Anything less than that will simply destroy your future before you even get started. Make sure you put your best possible recording out there for all to hear. Your first demo or EP for sale is going to set a standard for the quality of sound your audience can expect from your band. Rhythm instruments should be recorded first if you are not recording them all together. With the Avid Mbox you would record the whole band at one time and place each instrument on a separate track. With the Line 6, you would have to record each instrument separately to place them on individual tracks for mixing. Amplified guitars and basses should be recorded directly from the effects processors into the Mbox bypassing the amplifiers (which typically only ad volume to the sound). The only instrument that should be recorded with a microphone are acoustic instruments such as drums or a saxophone or violin or other none amplified acoustic instruments. #Line 6 backtrack pro#The Mbox also includes Pro Tool recording software (the industry standard). You would be better off recording directly into Adobe Audition from a mixer or other computer interface device such as the NEW Avid Mbox Pro which has a broadcast quality sound card built into it and will allow you to record up to 8 tracks simultaneously. You say you intend to import the recording into Adobe Audition for editing and mixing. If you are serious about your music, you would do well to wait until you can afford the proper equipment to record with. The mic is probably fine for recording a practice session but certainly not for recording a track that you intend to place on an EP for sale or even as a demo. You will not get a broadcast quality sound out of a Line 6 backtrack. ![]()
